Karen Nomberg Spirit Award- The Karen Nomberg Spirit Award is in memory of Karen Nomberg and her courageous, indomitable, generous and gracious spirit. Karen served on the Susan G. Komen Board of Directors and played an important and pivotal part in the success and growth of the Komen Birmingham Race for the Cure. Karen dedicated her energy and time to her family and community and passionately volunteered with many organizations. Karen made a true and meaningful difference in our community. Karen fought a long and hard battle with breast cancer with incredible strength, courage and grace all while continuing to give of herself to make the lives of others better. Karen passed away in the spring of 2007 at the age of 38. The Karen Nomberg spirit award will be given to the Team Captain that most exhibits these qualities and will be chosen by the members of the 2010 Race for the Cure Planning Committee.
The Teams Chair Award- This award will be given to the team with the highest donations to members ratio.
Fund Raising Awards
The top fundraiser in the following categories will be recognized on Race Day with a special award:
- Individual (Overall)
- Corporate / Legal Team
- Academic Team (High School & College)
- Faith-based Teams
- Friends & Family Team
NOTE: Collect all of your team’s donations and turn them in to the Komen office by September 29 for award purposes. Donations for the Race will be gladly accepted after the 29th, but will not be credited towards your final team tally for awards.
