If you want to make an impact in your community, REGISTERING is just your FIRST STEP. The SECOND and most crucial step is FUNDRAISING. This year the North Central Alabama Komen Affiliate has set our fundraising goal at $1.2 Million dollars and we need your help to get there. If every participant raised $250 – we would be able to fund much needed research, education, and outreach programs in our community.     

It is important to point out that 75% of the net proceeds raised by the Race will be granted out in our local community. The remaining 25% of the proceeds will help fund national research grants. What that really means is 100% of the net proceeds go straight to mission. Every dollar we raise is used to help save lives.   

This year you not only get to help our Affiliate make a bigger difference, you also get the opportunity to earn cool fundraising prizes.   

Participants who raise $250, $500, $750 and higher have their choice of brand name merchandise as our thank you for raising funds. The more you raise the better the prizes…from tote bags, to cookware, to power tools and TVs! [Sample of Prizes]     

Our new fundraising rewards program qualifies Race for the Cure participants and volunteers to earn great prizes.  Rewards start at the $100 fundraising level and get better and better the more you raise! It’s a win-win situation.  If you fundraise at least $100 you will get some great looking Susan G. Komen Tote Bags.

You will receive a Prize Certificate based on your Individual Fudraising Total a few weeks after the race.  Once received you will have 60 days to redeem your prize from the Link Below .

Pledge Prize Program – General Rules  

 hank you for collecting pledges for the Komen North Central Alabama Race for the Cure®!   If you plan to participate in our Fundraising Prize Program and want to be eligible for some of the great rewards, please follow the simple rules below to ensure proper record keeping.    [Download General Rules Document]      

General   

• All pledges MUST be received by November 9, 2010 at the  Komen Office to count towards the reward program.
• Participants may not combine or merge pledges with other participants to become eligible for higher level prizes. 
• If you or one of your donors submits a request for matching gifts through a business, the Race will count the donation as part of your pledges at the time those funds are received.  All matching gifts must be received by November 9, 2010  in order to count towards the reward program.

 

Online Donations  

• Please make sure that your online donors have your personal web page address or know how to access it.   Komen North Central Alabama cannot re-designate donations that were entered in the wrong location.
• Fundraising totals for prizes do not include registration fees.     

  

Offline Donations (cash or checks received via mail or in person)  

• To count toward pledge incentive prizes, all offline pledges must be accompanied by a completed pledge.   [Download Pledge Sheet Form].  
• Have donors send pledges to you (check written to Komen North Central Affiliate) and then submit them in batches with a pledge sheet.   Pledges sent without a pledge sheet cannot be counted toward a participant’s total.
• A phone number must be included.  We only use this as a way to separate the records of two people with the same name.   We will not call you unless there is a question about your submission.   We never solicit for donations by phone. 
• Only one participant name per pledge sheet.  If you fundraised with another participant, simply split the amount and fill out two separate pledge sheets. 
• Offline donations are entered into our online system so you will see your pledges as they are received.   Please allow 3 weeks for processing, as this work is done by volunteers, for a donation to be processed and reflect on your fundraising page. 
• We have many pledges to process and sometimes errors happen.  Please review your fundraising page and report any errors or omissions prior to the incentive prize deadline of November 9, 210 to birminghamrace@gmail.com.    Please include as much information as possible for us to track the issue.
